Sean McVay shares injury updates on Andrew Whitworth and David Long Jr.

Andrew Whitworth is considered day-to-day with ankle and knee injuries, and David Long Jr. appears to be OK, as well

During the Los Angeles Rams’ routing of the Arizona Cardinals on Monday night, they lost two key players to injuries in the first half. Andrew Whitworth injured his knee on the first offensive snap, and although he was able to return, he missed the entire second half.

David Long Jr. also hurt his knee in the first half and was unable to return, though he made an impact already with a pick-six.

Sean McVay didn’t have an update on either player after the win, but he met with reporters Tuesday and clarified each of their statuses. Whitworth is day-to-day and underwent a scan, which the Rams are waiting for the results on.

The initial feedback on Long’s knee injury was positive, with McVay saying it “looks like he’s going to be OK.” That’s encouraging for the Rams’ backup corner, who played well in Monday’s win.

Joe Noteboom filled in for Whitworth at left tackle in the second half and the offense didn’t miss a beat. He’s been a solid replacement every time Whitworth has missed time, which should have the Rams feeling good about the state of their offensive line.

Hopefully Whitworth can recover quickly, especially considering the Rams have less time to prepare for the Buccaneers after playing on Monday night.
