Throughout the regular season in 2021, the Los Angeles Rams were considered a really good team. They had a few stumbles along the way, but they still finished 12-5 and won the NFC West.
They became a great team in the playoffs when they ripped off four straight wins, including Super Bowl LVI. There are undoubtedly areas of improvement as they attempt to defend their title, but getting better this season may not mean the same result as last year.
After arriving for training camp Friday, Sean McVay made it clear that even if the Rams are a better team this year, they might not win the Super Bowl.
“So many things have to go right,” McVay said, via the Associated Press. “We could be a better team this year, and I think we’ve got a chance to do that, and it might not mean we win a Super Bowl, because there are a lot of things that take place throughout the course of a game — the bounce of a ball here — certain things that are out of your control.”
He’s not wrong. The Rams could run the table in the regular season and have one bad game in the playoffs, thus ending their season prematurely. It all comes down to winning those four (or three) postseason games when it matters most.
