Running back depth isn’t exactly an issue for the Los Angeles Rams after signing Raymond Calais off the Bucs’ practice squad, but it’ll certainly help if Darrell Henderson Jr. can be available in Week 1. And based on Sean McVay‘s latest update, it sounds like that could be the case.
On Monday, McVay told reporters that he’s “optimistic” Henderson will be able to play against the Cowboys on Sunday night.
Henderson is recovering from a hamstring strain, which he suffered in the Rams’ first scrimmage more than two weeks ago. He’s missed practice ever since, mostly doing rehab work on the side with trainers.
Cam Akers and Malcolm Brown will likely still handle the bulk of the carries even if Henderson can play, but he’s a dynamic piece on offense and can contribute on special teams.
