Almost as expected, tempers boiled over a couple of times on Saturday during the Rams’ joint practice with the Cowboys. Aaron Donald and Connor Williams got into it on the field, which led to a huge skirmish at one point.
Then later on in practice, Tony Pollard and Kenny Young tussled along the sideline after Young attempted to punch the ball out of Pollard’s arms well after the play was over. Sean McVay was asked after practice if he had an issue with the way those two incidents happened, but he wasn’t bothered by it.
It was all in the heat of competition with the two teams going at it for a couple of hours.
“I was down there for that. That’s just kind of guys just talking,” McVay said of the Young-Pollard extracurriculars. “I didn’t think it got too much. I didn’t see the first one I just kind of got there late, so I didn’t think it affected our ability to get the work in that we wanted and that was the goal for today.”
No injuries were reported and it’s not as if practice had to be called off because things got too heated, so no harm no foul. Like McVay said, the two scuffles didn’t prevent either team from getting in a good day of practice.
