Sean McVay is confident his son won’t be born during a Rams game: ‘This guy knows better’

Sean McVay says all the questions and concerns about him missing a Rams game can stop because it isn’t happening

Sean McVay will become a new dad in the very near future, with he and his wife expecting their first child to be born in the next week or so. Obviously, with it being football season, there’s a very real possibility that his son would be born on a Sunday when the Rams are playing.

That’s not going to happen, according to McVay.

After the coach said last week that he’d miss a game for the birth of his son, he’s confident that he won’t need to. On the “Coach McVay Show” Monday night, McVay said his comments about missing a game were blown out of proportion and based on the way things are trending, he won’t have to decide between the birth of his son and a Rams game.

So there’s no need to wonder about whether Los Angeles will have a replacement coach on the sideline this Sunday when the Rams host the Steelers at SoFi Stadium.

“Man, that got blown out of proportion. I mean, I wasn’t going to miss a game because we feel really good about everything coming according to plan,” McVay said. “This guy knows better, man. The first thing, if you’re going to be a disciplined little boy for us, you don’t come during a game, all right? Everything is going great. Veronika’s been awesome with this and we should be expecting him here in about a week or so. But we do not anticipate it conflicting with any Rams games so we can cut the questions or concerns about me missing a game. That’s not going to happen.”

If McVay is so confident that he won’t have to miss a game, Rams fans shouldn’t worry about him being absent either. In the meantime, he’s got some preparing to do for not just the Steelers, but for the little guy, too.
