Sean McVay happy to see Nick Scott join Bengals in free agency

Much has been said about the Cincinnati Bengals landing former Los Angeles Rams safety Nick Scott in free agency, with most of it being overwhelmingly positive.

And perhaps no higher praise for the development comes from Scott’s former head coach himself.

Speaking with reporters at league meetings this week, Rams head coach Sean McVay dove deep on what it was like to lose Scott and his happiness that the former seventh-rounder landed in a good program with the Bengals.

“The thing I appreciate the most about Nick is he was obviously a great player who started out as a key special teams contributor and he’s continued to earn every single opportunity that he got,” McVay said, according to Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com. ” But his play demeanor, his toughness and his consistency I think are things that really separate him. He’ll be a great factor for you guys in Cincinnati. We hate to lose him, but I’m, so happy to see him go to a great place with Zac. He’s earned the right to be able to get rewarded. I know he’s excited about being closer to home and playing with a lot of great players. It will be fun to watch him go shine.”

Scott arrives as an instant starter in Cincinnati alongside Dax Hill, the team’s first-round pick last year. The Bengals lost Jessie Bates and Vonn Bell to free agency.

Besides the praise from McVay, the hope is Scott will only continue his upward surge as a pro in Lou Anarumo’s scheme. McVay, from the sounds of it, seems to think that is certainly on the table.
