Anyone who was excited about the possibility of the Rams claiming (or signing) Leonard Fournette should focus their attention elsewhere. Sean McVay put that possibility to rest on Tuesday while on a conference call with reporters, confirming the Rams aren’t interested in adding any outside running backs.
He and the rest of the coaching staff feels good about the group of players they have in the backfield, led by Cam Akers, Malcolm Brown and Darrell Henderson.
McVay on the possibility of bringing in RB Leonard Fournette: “He’s a good player, but we feel good about the guys we have in-house. We’re not looking at anybody externally. I’ve been very pleased with our backs.”

Fournette was released by the Jaguars on Monday and is subject to waivers. Any team that claims him before 4 p.m. ET on Tuesday will be subject to his $4.2 million salary in 2020, which is fully guaranteed.
If no team claims him, he’ll become a free agent who can sign with any team immediately thereafter.
