Sean McVay has been extremely successful in his tenure with the Los Angeles Rams since being hired as the head coach in 2017, and he reached another milestone in Week 8. With Sunday’s win over the Houston Texans, McVay earned his 50th career win, putting him in elite company.
At just 35 years old, McVay is the youngest coach to reach 50 wins, giving him a regular-season record of 50-22. He’s only the fourth coach in Rams history to win 50 games in the regular season, joining Mike Martz, John Robinson and Chuck Knox.
Sean McVay’s 50th victory is secured in Game No. 72.
It's going to come before the midway point of his 5th season & before his 36th birthday.
He’s the youngest to 50 wins since football’s first televised game, the Draft Era, Super Bowl era, merger, you name it.

What might be even more impressive is that McVay now has the sixth-best winning percentage in NFL history, and the fifth-best in the last 94 years.
At 50-22, Sean McVay now has a career winning percentage of .694.
Only 4 NFL head coaches in the past 94 years won a higher percentage of their games: John Madden (.759), Vince Lombardi (.738), George Allen (.712) and Jim Harbaugh (.695). pic.twitter.com/BSbmKBXaoq

The Rams defeated the Texans with ease on Sunday, with the scoreboard showing 38-22 once the clock ran out. The score was a bit misleading as Houston scored all 22 of its points in the fourth quarter when Los Angeles subbed in their backups on both sides of the ball.
Aside from the Super Bowl loss in 2018, it has been smooth sailing for McVay. In his first four seasons as head coach of the Rams, McVay has three seasons of 10-plus wins.
Barring a midseason collapse, McVay will add another 10-plus win season to his resume as Los Angeles currently holds a 7-1 record. If the season were to end today, the Rams would be the No. 5 seed in the NFC due to the Arizona Cardinals having the tie-breaker over them in the NFC West.
Besides reaching 50 wins in his young career, McVay has also set the record of consecutive wins when holding a lead at halftime. McVay extended his record with a lead at halftime to 43-0 in Week 8, surpassing Bill Belichick’s record of 42-0.
It is amazing to think what McVay has accomplished in the NFL already despite still being the youngest head coach in the league. As long as he remains on his current trajectory, plenty of records will likely be broken by McVay in the future.
