The Seattle Seahawks announced earlier in July that their Week 6 Thursday Night Football game against the San Francisco 49ers will feature the return of the iconic royal blue throwback uniforms. When this news broke, I know I am not alone in thinking “hm, does this mean the 49ers will also wear their 1990’s inspired throwback uniforms as well?”
Turns out, this is exactly the case.
San Francisco announced on Thursday which uniform combinations will be worn for each game this season. Unsurprisingly, their classic red, white and gold uniforms will be for the majority of games. But their all-white alternate will be reserved for one game this season: Week 6 at the Seahawks.

Personally, I think the all-white alternate for the 49ers looks bad. It is a boring an uninspired look. However, I admit there is potential for this to be a great overall uniform matchup game between these two teams.
This is the third-straight season San Francisco is playing in Seattle on a Thursday night. Interestingly enough, Week 6 will make it the sixth-straight year the 49ers have worn these throwbacks in Seattle. In these games, San Francisco has gone 3-2, but in two of those victories they won the NFC West over the Seahawks in their own building.
Here is hoping Seattle’s throwbacks give a little bit of good luck to the Seahawks, as they look to finally snap this current five-game losing streak.
