Seahawks to wear royal blue throwbacks in Week 1 vs. Denver Bronos

On September 8th, the 12th Man is going to party like it’s 1999, because the Seattle Seahawks will be wearing their beloved royal blue throwback uniforms. In honor of kicking off the 2024 season, Seattle will be donning arguably the best uniform in the entire National Football League.

It is only fitting the season opener is against the Denver Broncos, who were Seattle’s former AFC West rival from 1977-2001. The Broncos updated their uniforms this offseason, which look terrible, so Week 1 is going to be a battle of new school verus old school… at least when it comes to uniforms, that is.

This is now twice in the last three years the Seahawks will open the NFL season against the Broncos while wearing an alternate uniform. In 2022, Seattle hosted Denver on Monday Night Football while wearing their all Action Green threads. Seattle successfully defended home turf with a 17-16 upset victory.

Now, they will begin the season once more with an alternate look. The Seahawks were already slated to wear their throwbacks in Week 6 against the San Francisco 49ers on Thursday Night Football. That impending showdown will be a double throwback game, as the 49ers are already opting to wear their hideous all-white throwback uniforms.

The Seahawks were 1-1 last year in the two games they wore their throwbacks. Seattle defeated the Cleveland Browns in their Week 8 matchup, winning 24-20. Unfortunately, they lost their second game, falling 41-35 to the Cowboys in Dallas. The Seahawks will look to move this record back into the win column in Week 1 against the Broncos.
