The Seattle Seahawks wrapped up their 2019 season with a loss to the Green Bay Packers in the NFC’s divisional round of the playoffs. With a chance to come back in the fourth quarter – like so many other games this year – the Seahawks finally fell short.
However, quarterback Russell Wilson never doubted for a second that the Seahawks would find a way to rally and earn the victory.
“Five minutes left, getting the ball back, thought the game was going to be over, I thought we were going to win it,” Wilson said after the loss. “I think everybody in the stadium and I think everybody watching it felt like that, too. That’s the good thing about us, it’s never over. That’s the thing we bring to the table. It’s never over.”
But Sunday afternoon, Wilson’s winning mentality wasn’t enough to get the job done and Seattle’s season was finally, well, over. The Seahawks returned home to Seattle and will clean out their lockers Monday afternoon before breaking for the offseason.
“We had a couple missed cues here and there on that last drive and it didn’t go the way we wanted it to,” Wilson conceded. “We played a great football team out there. They have a lot of great players. We battled, we battled, we battled. The thing about the first half, it didn’t go the way we wanted it to, obviously. We have to play better there. But what we did in the second half, pretty special.”
As far as Wilson is concerned, the 2020 NFL season starts now and he’s ready to hit the ground running.
