Seahawks HC Mike Macdonald offers optimistic update on DK Metcalf

The Seattle Seahawks have been without star wide receiver DK Metcalf for two weeks now. Metcalf suffered a Grade 1 MCL sprain during Seattle’s 34-14 victory over the Falcons in Atlanta. The sprain has cost Metcalf games against the Bills and Rams, and it’s hurt the Seahawks as well.

Without Metcalf, Seattle’s offense was clearly missing a downfield threat. Jaxon Smith-Njigba eventually took this role in Week 9 vs Los Angeles, but it took a while into the game for it to take effect. Fortunately, the Seahawks might not have to be without Metcalf for much longer.

On Monday, head coach Mike Macdonald gave an update for his star wide receiver, and it’s a bit of welcome good news for this struggling team.

This is the second bit of good news regarding Metcalf that should come as a relief. On Sunday morning, NFL Insider Mike Garafolo announced Seattle would not be trading Metcalf. This of course ensures No. 14 will remain in a Seahawks uniform for the remainder of the season.

Having Metcalf back vs the 49ers will be massive for Seattle. In 11 career games against San Francisco, Metcalf has hauled in 55 receptions for 680 yards. Of those 55 receptions, five have gone for touchdowns.
