The Seahawks secondary is about as talented as any in the NFL this year. With Riq Woolen, Devon Witherspoon and Tre Brown at cornerback you’d figure that they would be playiung a lot of man defense. The opposite is the case, though. In fact, according to this chart no team in the league is playing more zone defense than Seattle this year.

While it doesn’t really mesh with their personnel, this doesn’t come as a surprise. Head coach Pete Carroll has always preferred a heavy zone scheme no matter who his defensive coordinator is or who’s playing on the back end. Maybe some day that will change, but it doesn’t seem likely after 13 years of this.
