Seahawks cut CB Willie Roberts

The most unfortuante part of the preseason is finally upon us. The time where teams start to make their final cuts to trim down to the 53-man roster. It is always a difficult situation to see each year, as young men who have worked their entire lives to make it to the NFL face a considerable setback. Hopefully it is merely a momentary one, as another team signs them after seeing what they did in the exhibition games. But regardless, this time of year comes nonetheless.

All this to say the Seahawks have made their first move in this dreaded time. On Monday morning, Seattle released cornerback Willie Roberts.

The Seahawks signed Roberts in early August. Given how crowded Seattle’s secondary is, especially the cornerback position, it was always going to be an uphill climb for Roberts to make the roster. The Seahawks are simply too deep. A good problem for the team to have, but an unfortunate one for Roberts to contend against.

Roberts finished the preseason with one tackle, which was logged Saturday night during Seattle’s 37-33 win over the Cleveland Browns.
