The Seattle Seahawks are getting some much-needed depth at right tackle. On Wednesday morning, the Seahawks activated tackle Stone Forsythe from the injured reserve list. Forsythe has been on IR since late October following Seattle’s 34-14 victory over the Atlanta Falcons.
Forsythe began the season as the third-string right tackle, but was pressed into service in Week 1. Starter Abe Lucas began the season on the Physically Unable to Perform list, then backup George Fant was lost to injured reserve himself against the Denver Broncos.
Seattle’s offensive line has been among the worst, if not the worst, in the league this season, and the right side of the line has been a serious weakness. Forsythe played admirably, given the circumstances, but is clearly a backup. However, that is exactly the role the Seahawks have him as, and his return will help bolster the position. Especially since Abe Lucas’ health is always a considerable concern.
