Scottie Barnes joined Damon Stoudamire in Raptors history with latest effort

Barnes did just about everything on the court to lead the Raptors to a win, and joined Damon Stoudamire in some team history.

Scottie Barnes on Saturday did just about everything on the court to lead the Toronto Raptors to a win over the Denver Nuggets, and joined Damon Stoudamire in some team history in the process.

Barnes finished with 25 points, 10 assists, eight rebounds, two steals and one blocked shot in 39 minutes of work in the 127-115 victory. He had seven points alone in the fourth quarter as the Raptors outscored the Nuggets 34-16 in the final frame to pull out the win.

With the performance, Barnes became the first Raptors rookie to record at least 25 points, 10 assists and five rebounds in a game since Stoudamire during the 1995-96 season, according to StatMuse.

The performance on Saturday wasn’t the first time Barnes has been mentioned in the same sentence as Stoudamire this season. Barnes previously joined him and Vince Carter earlier in the season after scoring 300 points through his first 20 career games.

Performing as well as Stoudamire, who won Rookie of the Year, is certainly a high mark to reach as Barnes has had a tremendous first season with the Raptors. The team and Barnes will certainly be hoping he can take home the Rookie of the Year trophy just like Stoudamire, as well.
