UT press release:
The Tennessee men’s golf team’s season-opening tournament at the Scenic City Collegiate has been canceled due to existing and anticipated weather conditions.
The Vols were scheduled to complete two rounds today and one tomorrow at Ooltewah’s Honors Course, but weather conditions in the area made the course unplayable.
Overnight rain in the Ooltewah area caused an initial delay of two hours from the initial 8 a.m. start time Monday morning. After a second two-hour delay at 10 a.m., the event was canceled at noon. Rain is expected to continue in the area on Tuesday.
Tennessee will now open the season at the Blessings Collegiate Invitational in Fayetteville, Arkansas from Oct. 4-6. This marks the second straight year that the Vols will open at the Blessings after registering a second place team finish last fall at Blessings Golf Club.
