Santiago Giménez is finding life in the Netherlands quite agreeable so far.
Giménez moved to Feyenoord from Cruz Azul in July, making the jump to Europe after establishing himself as one of Mexico’s top young strikers.
The 21-year-old has not had any difficultly adjusting to Europe, as he scored his fourth goal in just five games for Feyenoord in Sunday’s derby against Sparta Rotterdam.
Giménez showed some predatory movement in the box to get free and connect with Igor Paixão’s cross, scoring the third goal for Feyenoord in a 3-0 win over its city rival.
Giménez’s tally of four goals is even more impressive considering all five of his appearances have come off the bench so far. The striker has only played 99 total minutes for Feyenoord, meaning he’s averaging about a goal every 25 minutes.
The Argentina-born striker made his senior Mexico debut last October and has earned seven caps thus far. If he continues to score at this rate, he’ll be a strong candidate to start for El Tri at the World Cup in Qatar.
