Sandro Mamukelashvili on getting minutes in Spurs loss to Warriors

After the San Antonio Spurs’ loss to the Golden State Warriors, Sandro Mamukelashvili spoke about getting real minutes.

The San Antonio Spurs dropped the ball on Sunday night, as the Golden State Warriors snapped their three-game win streak. Keldon Johnson and Jeremy Sochan were out, so the Spurs had to rely on the play of some bench guys to fill the void. And while it wasn’t enough to earn them a win, the reserves played well.

Cedi Osman got the start and played well, and Zach Collins posted some solid numbers off the bench. On top of that, third-year big man Sandro Mamukelashvili got a season-high 24:37 against the Warriors. He looked good in his minutes throughout the night.

“Injuries suck. I don’t wish that on anybody,” Mamukelashvili said. “Jeremy is my brother. Hopefully, he will recover quick, but it feels great to play.  I stayed ready for 70-something games and never put my head down, just kept hoping for the best. And getting the opportunity means a lot, so I will go out and compete like it’s my first game.”

Mamukelashvili finished the game with 10 points, 11 rebounds, and two assists while shooting 4-of-6 from the field.
