On Sunday the undefeated San Diego State Aztecs (25-0) will take on the Boise State Broncos (17-9) in Boise, Idaho.

San Diego State is coming off a win against New Mexico in which they claimed the Mountain West regular-season championship with four games remaining on their schedule.

Boise State is coming off of a 74-57 win against Air Force, and are looking to get a second-place finish in the conference.

Boise State coach Leon Rice is known for doing crazy things to get his team and fans fired up for games against conference leaders. In the past, this included wading through a freezing cold river in shorts, and this year it was eating a matchbook that was on fire!

Expect the fans in Boise to show up and be loud and proud. The Broncos have won the last 3 at home against the Aztecs, and are undefeated at home in conference play.

The last time these two teams met the Aztecs won 83-65 in San Diego.

Players to Watch:

SDSU: Matt Mitchell – Matt Mitchell has averaged 22 points a game in his last 3 games, recorded a double-double with 22 points and 12 rebounds on Tuesday against New Mexico, and also joined the 1,000 point club in his last outing. All American candidate Malachi Flynn has entered a bit of a shooting slump, but Mitchell has picked up his scoring to keep the Aztecs’ undefeated season rolling.

Boise St: Justinian Jessup – Earlier this season Justinian Jessup became the all time leader in 3 pointers made in conference history. He has averaged 18 points per game over his last three games. Boise State will need players to score against a San Diego State defense currently rated 6th in the Nation in KenPom.

With Julius Irving Small Forward of the Year award candidate Derrick Alston Jr. averaging only eight points per game over his last three outings, Jessup may need to step up big time. He will also be hoping ot get revenge after his last outing against SDSU, where he was held to 7 points on 2-12 shooting.

Prediction: The Aztecs are 8 point favorites according to KenPom. I believe Boise will come out swinging and get an early lead. In the end the Aztecs’ depth and talent will be too much and SDSU will leave with their 26th victory of the season, but they won’t cover the 8 point spread. No offense to Nevada, but this is likely the Aztecs toughest match up left in the regular season, and the final score will reflect that.
