San Diego State Is Going To Go Undefeated, Right?

Who is the toughest teams left for San Diego State?
San Diego State is currently 25-0 with just four games left on its schedule it has a great chance to go undefeated, and KenPom has the Aztecs winning out at 50.3 percent with the toughest games giving San Diego State at 76 percent chance to win.
Had we all been smarter (sorry for not listening to you die-hard Aztecs fans) we would have dropped $10 and place a betting wager on San Diego State who in June was sitting at a whopping 500-1. That would be a winning bet of $5,000 if someone did that. Currently, the Aztecs are given the second best odds — sixth overall as five are tied for first — at 14/1. That is quite the jump.
The big question is if the Aztecs will win out for the regular season. If they do win out they will be just the fourth team this century and join St. Joseph’s (2004), Wichita State (2014) and Kentucky (2015). It should be noted that none of those teams went onto win the national title.

Who Will Challenge SDSU?
The four games left against San Diego State are at Boise State, home to UNLV and Colorado State, and then a road finale vs. Nevada. All of these teams have a winning record in league play and any of the four could finish in second place.
If we break it down further, Boise State is 12-1 at home and tied with the best chance to beat the Aztecs per KenPom at 76 percent. When these two teams played in Boise back on Jan. 11 it was not even close as the Aztecs won 83-65. Since that game, the Broncos have a solid 6-2 record and with this being in Boise might just be the toughest game the rest of the way for San Diego State.
UNLV is an interesting team and have an 7-6 league record but they have struggled against good teams with just two of their seven conference wins have come against teams with a winning record with victories over Utah State and New Mexico. With this game at Viejas it seems unlikely that the Rebels will upset the Aztecs.
The next game is a home one vs. Colorado State who has surprised in Mountain West play. These two played way back on Dec. 4 and San Diego State won by 18 points, and will the Rams have played better of late it will be a tough climb for them to pull off the upset. San Diego State will need to watch out for big mane Nico Carvacho.
The final game is on the road against Nevada. The Wolf Pack have won three in a row and five of seven so they are on the right path and could avoid San Diego State until the Mountain West title game if they secure that No. 2 seed. Just like the other three teams the Aztecs face, the Wolf Pack fell to San Diego State by 13 points.
The odds are in San Diego State’s favor and if they stay focus they should be one of four teams since 2000 to go undefeated in the regular season.
