Prediction

Dodgers 7, Padres 4

Moneyline (ML)

The DODGERS (-162) are a little pricy for my liking, as generally my limit is -170 on moneyline plays. Based on the trends in this series, however, I’ll take my chances.

LA has posted a 44-17 record in the previous 61 head-to-head meetings at Chavez Ravine, and they’re 41-17 in the past 58 meetings overall, including two of three last week in San Diego.

New to sports betting? A winning $10 bet on Los Angeles returns a profit of just $6.20, while the Padres pulling the upset (+145) would fetch a profit of $14.50.

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

The DODGERS (-1.5, +125) are more attractive on the alternate run-line at plus-money, as they own the Padres (+1.5, -149). While San Diego has played pretty good baseball this season and is no pushover, Dodger Blue has dominated this series.

In addition, LA has won 10 of its 11 games this season by two or more runs. That includes May’s start, a 5-2 win, on Aug. 4 in San Diego.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 8.5 (-110) is worth a small-unit play. The Over is 4-1 in the past five road games for the Padres, and 14-6-3 in their past 23 series openers, too. The Over is 2-0-2 in the past four divisional games for the Dodgers, while going 5-2-1 in the past eight meetings overall in this series.
