The San Antonio Spurs have slipped a spot in the new Bleacher Report weekly power rankings put together by league analyst Andy Bailey, who dropped the Spurs a spot from No. 27 to No. 28 after another week of San Antonio boosting their lottery odds.
“Victor Wembanyama‘s acclimation to the NBA game is happening far more rapidly than even the most optimistic draftniks could have imagined,” notes the B/R analyst. “With his recent play, there’s an argument that the 20-year-old has been one of this season’s top 30 to 40 players. And he might even have a fringe All-Star injury replacement case (assuming that’s even needed).”
“After going for 21 points and 5 blocks in Wednesday’s loss to the Orlando Magic, Wembanyama is averaging 24.2 points, 9.3 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 3.4 blocks in just 26.4 minutes over his last 16 games.”

That may not be as much fun as actually winning the games, but perhaps we will get a glimpse at that as well should the team’s front office elect to deal for a true floor general to pair with Wemby ahead of the 2024 trade deadline.
