Your NBA 2024 Rookie of the Year is none other than star San Antonio Spurs big man Victor Wembanyama, with the returns from the voting now in and tabulated by the league.
The French forward phenom’s 495 points nearly lapped his next closest rival, Oklahoma City Thunder big man Chet Holmgren, who, in his second year under contract with the Thunder, garnered 295 total points in Rookie of the Year voting. Other rookies who got votes include Brandon Miller of the Charlotte Hornets, Jaime Jaquez Jr. of the Miami Heat, Brandin Podziemski of the Golden State Warriors, and Derek Lively II of the Dallas Mavericks.
That Wemby won this honor unanimously makes it all the more impressive. He is the first rookie to do so since Karl-Anthony Towns of the Minnesota Timberwolves, and just the sixth rookie to do so ever.
