San Antonio Spurs at Toronto Raptors odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Wednesday’s San Antonio Spurs at Toronto Raptors NBA odds and lines, with basketball picks, tips and predictions.

The Toronto Raptors (21-34) come off yet another loss and will host the San Antonio Spurs (26-26) in the second half of a back-to-back Wednesday. Tip-off at Toronto’s 2020-21 home of Amalie Arena in Tampa, Fla., will be at 7:30 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze the Spurs-Raptors odds and lines, with NBA picks and predictions.

The Raptors fell 108-103 to the Atlanta Hawks on their home court Tuesday. It was their fourth loss in their last five games and their seventh defeat in 10 outings.

The Spurs have won back-to-back games with the most recent coming against the Orlando Magic by a commanding 120-97 score Monday. San Antonio is 2-2 over its last four games and will play the finale of a five-game road trip Wednesday.

San Antonio is ninth in the Western Conference and Toronto is 11th in the East. These teams met in Texas Dec. 26, with the Spurs winning 119-114 as 2.5-point underdogs.

Spurs at Raptors: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Spurs 122, Raptors 108

Money line (ML)

The SPURS (-175) are the clear choice as they continue fighting for positioning in the Western Conference play-in tournament while the Raptors have essentially seen their postseason hopes evaporate by going 4-15 since the All-Star break.

San Antonio takes excellent care of the basketball and has a sizable edge over Toronto in rebounding.

The Raptors should be closer to a full lineup Wednesday, but VanVleet is likely to remain out.

Spurs SG Demar DeRozan also loves playing his former team with 22.0 points per game, 7.4 rebounds per game and 7.6 assists per game over five reunions.

Against the spread (ATS)

This is a short line and the SPURS -4 (-110) must be backed to win by 5 or more points.

Personally, I don’t love betting trends as they often don’t consider context, but the Raptors are 3-9 ATS on the second half of a back-to-back for the season and lose those games by an average of 10.1 points while failing to cover by an average of 9.2 points. That’s a consistent problem this team has in regrouping for Game 2.

They are 2-8 ATS in their last 10 games overall while three of the Spurs’ last four wins were by double-digit margins.

Over/Under (O/U)

Take the OVER 222.5 (-110).

The Raptors are 7-5 O/U against the number in the second half of back-to-backs. While the Spurs are 2-9 against the O/U with a rest advantage, they’ll be able to handle the bulk of the score with DeRozan leading the way.
