Sam Howell leads workouts with Commanders’ wide receivers

Former UNC football quarterback Sam Howell got some extra work in with his receivers ahead of Washington Commanders training camp.

Former North Carolina quarterback Sam Howell is the frontrunner to be the starter for the Washington Commanders in the 2023 season as head coach Ron Rivera declared him the starter entering training camp.

While Howell is set to battle veteran Jacoby Brissett for the starting job in a few weeks, he’s attempting to get on the same page with some of his targets in the Commanders’ offense. Howell and Brissett were down in Florida this past week with receivers and running backs to get some extra work in ahead of training camp.

This could be big for Howell in his goal of ultimately winning the job and being a franchise quarterback.

Among those that were in attendance included Terry McLaurin, Dyami Brown, Jahan Dotson, and Brian Robinson.

Howell started just one game for the Commanders last season as a rookie, beating the Dallas Cowboys in Week 18. The quarterback played well at times, showing off his passing and running ability.

Now that he has this opportunity, let’s see if Howell can take advantage of it and become a good quarterback in the NFL.
