Former UNC quarterback [autotag]Sam Howell[/autotag] is prepping for his first season in the NFL as the Washington Commanders kickoff on September 11th. But before that, Howell is taking a day to relax and watch his former team in action.
Howell is in attendance for Saturday’s game in Boone, North Carolina between UNC and Appalachian State. A big non-conference in-state battle between the two sides.
The quarterback made the trip to watch the Tar Heels and new quarterback Drake Maye, who is a close friend of his. He was on the field pregame to meet with players and staff, even taking some pictures:

Howell exited UNC after three seasons and set multiple program records in the process. He started last season with Maye as one of the backups and even praised the quarterback after his record-breaking Week 0 performance.
Let’s hope Maye and the Tar Heels can deliver a big win on Saturday.
