Sam Darnold says I want to be a Jet for life

Sam Darnold has seen the worst of times in nearly 3 seasons as a Jet and he says he still wants to stay with Gang Green

Sam Darnold deserves better. The New York Jets’ quarterback takes the brunt of the team’s ineptitude on the field. Off it, all he hears is how Gang Green should go 0-16 so it can select Clemson’s Trevor Lawrence in the 2021 NFL Draft.

You have to give credit to the third-year QB, who was the third overall pick out of USC in 2018. He always says the right thing.

“I love it here. I love the people here,” Darnold said Monday. “I love living here. I’ve always said it, that I want to be a Jet for life. But again that decision isn’t up to me.”

Darnold is 11-24 as a starter for the Jets with 41 TD passes against 37 interceptions. He has seen illness — mono — and injury — derail his career.

Throw in 91 sacks in two-plus seasons and you have to fear for the damage being done to his future in the NFL.
