Salvon Ahmed released by Miami Dolphins

Former Washington star Salvon Ahmed is looking for a new home.

Salvon Ahmed had spent all four years of his NFL career with the Miami Dolphins, but as of Monday afternoon, the former Washington Huskies running back is looking for a new home. The Dolphins decided to part ways with the product of Kirkland, Washington after signing him as an undrafted free agent following the 2020 NFL draft.

Over four seasons in South Beach, Ahmed took 163 carries for 519 yards and 5 touchdowns, adding 40 receptions for 274 yards and a score to his bottom line.

Most of his production came in his rookie season when he rushed for 319 yards and 3 touchdowns while splitting time with his college running mate, Myles Gaskin. Now, coach Mike McDaniel is looking for another infusion of youth at the position behind Raheem Mostert.

The Dolphins are looking to lean heavily on second-year star Davon Achane, who showed off elite speed during his rookie season but struggled to stay healthy, and third-round pick Jaylen Wright.

Ahmed, who is still just 25 years old, has proven himself to be a serviceable contributor at the NFL level, and with so many teams looking to add a change-of-pace running back with good speed, it shouldn’t take long for him to find a home.
