Saints vs. Patriots 2021 odds: Patriots favored by 2.5 points at home

This matchup could be the best one we’ve seen through three weeks.

After earning their first victory of the 2021 campaign, the New England Patriots will return back to the friendly confines of Gillette Stadium to play host to the New Orleans Saints in Week 3.

Bill Belichick’s team opened this week as 3.5-point favorites, but they’ve fallen a bit. According to Tipico Sportbook, the Patriots are now just 2.5-point favorites over the Saints in this matchup.

Considering home teams are typically granted three points on the spread, it appears that there’s either respect for the Saints or cautiousness about the Patriots coming into this game.

Tipico also has New England listed as favorites on the money line, as a Patriots victory is currently set at -160. The over/under is 42.5 points.

Through two weeks, New Orleans is one of the most perplexing teams in the league. They dismantled Green Bay in Week 1 but got tossed around by Carolina in Week 2.

Jameis Winston hasn’t looked all that great even in the thrashing of the Packers, despite throwing five touchdowns.

For New England, they are clearly still bringing rookie quarterback Mac Jones along and relying on their defense being the strength of their team.

The Saints have hit heights that the Patriots haven’t achieved yet, but they also haven’t played a defense like New England or a coach like Belichick.

This matchup will certainly be one to watch.
