The hamstring injury that New Orleans Saints wide receiver Michael Thomas suffered in practice on Wednesday held him out of the following session on Thursday, per the latest Saints injury report. He still has time to test it out on Friday, but this doesn’t suggest he’ll make the expected return after the bye week that the Saints expected of him.
It’s disappointing on multiple levels. The Saints were patient with Thomas after his Week 1 ankle sprain and did not rush him back into action, but this is clearly a setback. He was joined again on the inactive list by guard Nick Easton (concussion) and wide receiver Bennie Fowler (shoulder).
Additionally, for Carolina: cornerback Eli Apple again practiced fully despite a recent knee injury, and Panthers coach Matt Rhule said after practice on Thursday that Apple is “getting close to ready to play.”
