The Carolina Panthers will be welcoming in the New Orleans Saints for their first home game of the 2023 regular season—and when they do, they won’t have to deal with a familiar and formidable foe.
As officially announced on Friday, running back Alvin Kamara has been suspended for the first three games of the year after violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy. That’ll keep the Pro Bowl rusher out for the Saints’ visit to Bank of America Stadium in Week 2, a Monday night matchup against the Panthers.
Kamara had faced criminal charges and a civil lawsuit stemming from a fight outside of a Las Vegas nightclub in February of 2022. He has since agreed to a plea deal and an undisclosed settlement to resolve matters on both fronts.
In his previous six pro seasons, Kamara rushed for 545 yards and six touchdowns over 10 games versus Carolina. He also reeled in 46 receptions for 346 yards and a score.
Other running backs on the New Orleans roster include free-agent signing Jamaal Williams and 2023 third-round pick Kendre Miller.
