Saints downgrade Taysom Hill (chest) for Week 3 vs. Eagles

The Saints originally listed Taysom Hill as questionable for Week 3’s game with the Eagles, but on Saturday they downgraded his status to doubtful:

After being a limited participant in the last two days of practice this week, Taysom Hill was labeled questionable for the Week 3 game versus the Philadelphia Eagles. A day later, his odds of playing have dropped further.

The Saints downgraded Hill to doubtful for Sunday’s matchup. Hill suffered a chest injury against the Dallas Cowboys that led to him having to go to the hospital. You never want to hear about an immediate hospital visit for a chest injury. Hill was able to fly back with the team to New Orleans, fortunately.

Dennis Allen shared a brief but positive update on Monday and on Friday he said Hill would play if he was able to. All the results hadn’t came in, but at least it wasn’t serious. That’s still something to be excited for despite his lowering status for Week 3.

Hill’s absence takes away an interesting part of the Saints offense through two weeks. Hill’s alignment at fullback has allowed the Saints to have a solid lead blocker while maintaining a rushing and receiving threat. There will likely be a heavier dosage of fullback Adam Prentice this week.
