Saints butcher clock management at end of horrific first half against Packers

The Saints mismanaged the clock at the end of a putrid first half

Anything that could go wrong and more went wrong for the New Orleans Saints against the Green Bay Packers on Monday at Lambeau Field.

Green Bay led 21-0 at the break and the awful play by New Orleans was compounded by an embarrassing gaffe in the final minute of the half.

Spencer Rattler completed a pass to Kevin Austin for 17 yards. However, Austin fumbled the ball out of bounds with 39 seconds left.

Somehow, the entire Saints teacm and coaches failed to realize the fumble out of bounds meant the clock kept ticking.

Finally, with 15 seconds left interim coach Darren Rizzi called a timeout. He was furious but unaware of the rules as was everyone else associated with his players and staff.

Rattler was then sacked and threw two incompletions before the clock ran out.
