The New Orleans Saints are dressing for a funeral this week, announcing Friday that they’ll be wearing their black home jerseys and matching black pants in Sunday’s game with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Both NFC South squads won their Week 1 matchups and now enter Week 2 looking to take an early lead on top of the divisional standings. For their part, the Buccaneers will be wearing white away jerseys with pewter pants.
For the curious and superstitious, here is the record the Saints have achieved in each of the different uniform combos they’ve used dating back to 2006:
- White jerseys, white pants: 9-3 (.727)
- “Black and Gold” throwbacks: 2-1 (.667)
- “Color Rush” alternates: 9-5 (.643)
- Black jerseys, gold pants: 24-14 (.632)
- White jerseys, black pants: 42-26 (.618)
- White jerseys, gold pants: 37-24 (.607)
- Black jerseys, black pants: 46-33 (.582)
