The 2019-20 season just ended, and yet PGA Tour golf is back. A new season begins this week with the Safeway Open at Silverado Resort in Napa, California. It’s a bit of an in-between week with many players taking rest where they can get it after a three-week stretch of FedEx Cup Playoffs (and the PGA Championship before that) and the U.S. Open approaching next week.
The field may be a bit thin, but Phil Mickelson, a newly crowned champion on the 50-and-over tour, stands out along with reigning British Open champion Shane Lowry and Sergio Garcia.
