Ryan’s responsibilities changed as the weather grew warmer. He mowed the lawns. He picked up sticks. He raked the leaves, seeded certain areas and put down fresh dirt near the graves. Ryan’s boss, Frank Dietrich, found ways to use his new employee’s 6-foot-7 frame. “His height absolutely came in handy,” Dietrich said. “There’s some branches, some things that are way high up: ‘Hey Matt, let’s get Matt in here.’ Some of the guys working for me are short — I mean, really short.”
