We now know which New Orleans Saints player will be the first voted into NFL Network’s Top 100 Players of 2020: right tackle Ryan Ramczyk. It’s the first appearance on this list for Ramczyk, who has also been recognized as an All-Pro in both 2018 (second-team) and 2019 (first-team) while routinely locking down the league’s best pass rushers on his side of the line.
Ramczyk hasn’t missed a start except for the 2018 regular season finale (when the Saints rested most of their starting lineup, having secured the NFC’s top playoff seed), while leaving the field only sparingly. He’s been an iron man out at the right tackle spot, and if anything, this placement might be too low.
Initially picked at the end of the first round in the 2017 NFL Draft, Ramczyk immediately made an impact for the Saints despite having started just one year of college football for the Wisconsin Badgers. A collegiate left tackle, he at first filled in for Terron Armstead before a career-ending injury struck right tackle Zach Strief. Ramczyk effortlessly flipped over to the other side, and hasn’t looked back since.
The Saints tied the Baltimore Ravens for the most representatives on this year’s NFL Top 100 list, as voted on by active players, with seven selections. Just four of Ramczyk’s Saints teammates made the cut last year in Drew Brees, Michael Thomas, Alvin Kamara, and Cameron Jordan, so we’ll be interested to see who joins him on the 2020 ranking. We made our best guess at the seven Saints who belong on this year’s list, and Ramczyk absolutely made the cut.
"He's earned the respect of the entire league"
