When picking a potential generational player like Chase Young with the No. 2 overall pick in the draft, seemingly everyone involved with the organization is a winner. With the Washington Redskins, the fans win, the coaches win, and the fellow players win.
However, if you were to look for a potential loser from the selection, you might look at Ryan Kerrigan, a veteran DE who will have his role reduced to make way for the rookie. Kerrigan doesn’t see it that way, though. He told media members this week that if he were in the Redskins’ position, he would have done the exact same thing.
Ryan Kerrigan says Redskins fans should be very excited about Chase Young. Kerrigan adds if we was in charge he would have taken Chase Young with the second overall pick too

It’s unclear what Kerrigan’s role on the defense will be now, but it seems obvious to think that he will play more of a situational position and his incredibly gifted pass-rushing ability will be used in pivotal situations. As for the defense as a whole, he thinks fans should be excited — he knows just how talented that front line can be.
