Since the announcement, plenty of Washington Redskins players have had big praise for new head coach Ron Rivera.
But few Redskins players hold more weight than Ryan Kerrigan, making what he had to say more notable than most.
“I know those Panthers teams are tough and physical — obviously they made the Super Bowl [following the 2015 season],” Kerrigan said, according to Redskins.com’s Zach Selby. “We played against them that year and they were really a … good team that year. He’s always had a physical, tough bunch, I know that.”
That’s high praise from Kerrigan, even if his Panthers teams playing hard was just as well-known as Rivera’s reputation of crafting players and leaders on and off the field.
Interestingly enough, Kerrigan might not be back with the Redskins in 2020 based on the big number attached to his name. And it’s Rivera in charge of this decision now that it’s clear he has full control.
From the sounds of it, Redskins fans would love to see Kerrigan playing under Rivera’s guidance. It sounds like the star pass rusher sure wouldn’t mind, either.
