Ryan Garcia vs. Luke Campbell fight odds, picks and prediction

Breaking down Saturday’s WBC lightweight title bout between Ryan Garcia and Luke Campbell, with boxing betting odds and predictions.

We get an interim WBC lightweight title bout between Ryan Garcia and Luke Campbell at American Airlines Arena in Dallas on Saturday. The 12-round main event is tentatively scheduled for 5:30 p.m. ET,  and will be televised on DAZN. Below, we break down the Garcia-Campbell bout with betting odds, picks and predictions.

Garcia vs. Campbell: Tale of the tape

Garcia (20-0) is a rising star. He hasn’t fought since Feb. 2020 when he pushed past Francisco Fonseca in the first round, knocking out his counterpart in just 80 seconds. “King Ry”, who has quite the Instagram following, will be fighting for the fifth time with Eddy Reynoso as his trainer. If that sounds familiar, he is the same guy who helped develop Saul “Canelo” Alvarez into one of the sport’s biggest stars. Each of his past two fights have ended in Round 1, so as he likes to say, “don’t blink”. However, Campbell (20-3) is a former Gold Medalist for Great Britain, and he has 16 knockouts during his career. Originally we were set to see this fight in Dec. 2020, but it was pushed back due to a positive COVID-19 test for the 33-year-old Briton.

GARCIA (-350) will be facing one of his most difficult opponents to date in Campbell (+275), but the latter is also starting to get a little long in the tooth at 33, while Garcia is just getting started. Campbell has lost by decision to Jorge Linares and Vasily Lomachenko, so he is not going to be a pushover like some of the tomato cans Garcia has faced recently. But the result will be the same, as Garcia marches on, making him a slightly risky, but good play on the 3-way line.

In the end, Garcia will knock his opponent out. As such, taking GARCIA BY KO/TKO/TECHNICAL DECISION OR DQ (-110) is the best bet on this card. It’s nearly even money, and he will persevere. But Campbell will make him work for it.

Target a three-round block for a Garcia win for extra value. I like GARCIA IN ROUND 5 (+1200), GARCIA IN ROUND 6 (+1200) and GARCIA IN ROUND 7 (+1200). He hasn’t had to go that far in a while, but I think Campbell is a veteran who will be able to stretch this fight out a bit, although I worry about his cardio after coming back from a bout with COVID.
