Ryan Blaney makes NASCAR history with Cup Series win at Iowa

Ryan Blaney made NASCAR history with his Cup Series win at Iowa Speedway. Find out what Blaney accomplished for the first time in history!

[autotag]Ryan Blaney[/autotag] needed Sunday night. Blaney won the inaugural NASCAR Cup Series race at Iowa Speedway after holding off Hendrick Motorsports. A hard-charging Christopher Bell would’ve passed Blaney, but he was too far behind. The Team Penske driver deserved a little luck after World Wide Technology Raceway, and it has turned into NASCAR history.

Blaney is the first driver to win at Iowa Speedway in all three series by winning the Cup Series race on Sunday night. Obviously, the Cup Series just ran its first race, but Blaney has won at Iowa in the NASCAR Xfinity and Truck Series. The 2023 Cup Series champion won his Truck Series event at Iowa in 2012 and the Xfinity Series event in 2015.

It has been a long season for Blaney, who hasn’t shown as much speed as he did in the 2023 NASCAR playoffs. Yet, the No. 12 team has finally returned to victory lane and secured a spot in the 2024 NASCAR playoffs. Blaney needed that victory at Iowa, and hopefully, for the No. 12 team, it starts a string of momentum for a competitive summer.
