Jacob Young must have seen what his brother did in Eugene, and used that as motivation.
The younger brother of Joseph Young, who was a star while playing for the Ducks, announced his decision to transfer to Oregon on Wednesday, joining what is setting up to be an elite group of talent in 2021-22. Young is just the latest in a long number of transfers that include Quincy Guerrier, Rivaldo Soares, and De’Vion Harmon.
Young stood as one of the best guards remaining in the transfer portal before announcing his decision to join the Ducks. He helped take Rutgers to their first NCAA Tournament in 30 years, and their first win in the tournament in 38. Young averaged 14.1 points, 3.4 assists, and 1.7 steals per game.
The transfer of Guerrier did a lot to add depth and star power to the front-court for Oregon, which already includes Franck Kepnang, N’Faly Dante, and Nathan Bittle. Now with the addition of Young, the same can be said about Oregon’s backcourt, which will be led by Will Richardson.
