After a tough 14-13 loss to Army, No. 14 Rutgers dropped in Week 2’s United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) rankings. According to Inside Lacrosse, Rutgers Men’s Lacrosse has fallen from 8th ranked to 14th in Week 2’s rankings. In their Media Poll, Inside Lacrosse has Rutgers dropping from 7th to 13th in this week’s rankings.

According to the preseason USILA rankings, the Scarlet Knights started the season 10th in the country but have fluctuated up and down in the polls. After their first two wins over Marist and Stony Brook, the Scarlet Knights received their first loss of the 2023 season.

In their home opener, the Black Knights surpassed the Scarlet Knights for the biggest upset of Week 2. Rutgers Brain Cameron and Ross Scott led the comeback for the Scarlet Knights, tying the game at 12-12 to cap a 3-0 fourth-quarter run. With momentum on Rutgers’ side, Army’s Will Coletti broke the 12-12 tie with under nine minutes remaining. Army would go on to win the game 14-13, securing their first win of the season.

The Scarlet Knights head home to host 2-0 No. 5 Loyola on Saturday, preparing to bounce back from an upsetting loss.
