After starting February with a win on Saturday at Michigan, Rutgers men’s basketball will look to continue their success against Maryland on February 6. The Scarlet Knights only have three conference wins this season but beat Michigan in convincing fashion over the weekend.
However, they will take on a Terrapins team with plenty to prove. So far this season, Jahmir Young has set the tone offensively for Maryland. He is averaging a team-high 20.9 points per game. He has gotten some help from Julian Reese, who has been a force in the paint.
Rutgers is now 11-10 (3-7 Big Ten) on the season.

Although Rutgers will have their hands full, Maryland will be tasked with stopping Derek Simpson, who is coming off one of his best performances of the season. Against Michigan, he led Rutgers in scoring with 19 points. He also went 2-3 from three-point range.

While Maryland is heavily favored in this game, it represents a perfect opportunity for Rutgers to end their road woes. They are 2-5 away from Jersey Mike’s Arena this season. Maryland has thrived at home with a 10-2 record.

As the end of the regular season inches closer, wins are at a premium for both teams. That has made this Tuesday night matchup more critical. Rutgers will be eager to prove themselves with a lot on the line.
