Rutgers football: Kyle Monangai runs his way to an impressive Big Ten list

Rutgers’ Kyle Monangai puts up an impressive stat.

Kyle Monangai is now the third Big Ten running back since 2015 to twice in a season rush for over 100 yards in the fourth quarter. He joins some pretty impressive company in doing so.

The Rutgers running back went for 109 yards on Saturday in a 31-14 win at Indiana. The win made Rutgers bowl eligible for the first time since 2014 and was their earliest bowl eligibility since 2012 (that stat was provided by the Big Ten Network).

The game also marked a second consecutive game where Monangai rushed for over 100 yards (he had 148 rushing yards against Michigan State two weeks ago). Both games were wins for Rutgers (6-2, 3-2 Big Ten).

Monangai joined the likes of Saquon Barkley and Kenneth Walker in the Big Ten in twice going for 100 yards in the game’s final quarter in a season. The stat dates back to 2015:

Barkley and Walker are both in the NFL, with Barkley considered among the top running backs in the league.

Monangai and Rutgers are currently on a bye week. They will host Ohio State at SHI Stadium on Nov. 4.

The game will kickoff at noon and air on CBS.
