After winning a Super Bowl this past season, fullback Michael Burton signed a free agent deal with the Denver Broncos. The former Rutgers football standout brings considerable experience to a Broncos team that is rebuilding and being reshaped this offseason.
Denver has been among the most active teams in NFL free agency and the addition of Burton is an important piece for the offense. Burton is a tremendous blocker and that should help quarterback Russell Wilson in the pocket as well as boost a rushing offense that was in the bottom-half of the NFL last season.
In what was his eighth season in the league and his second year with Kansas City, Burton was a consistent part of the Chiefs’ offense in run situations as well as on special teams.
Burton’s deal is for one year and $1.3175 million dollars. $1.066 of that is guaranteed money.

The move to Denver reunites him with new Broncos head coach Sean Payton, who was Burton’s head coach in 2020 with the New Orleans Saints.
After four strong seasons at Rutgers, Burton was a fifth round pick of the Detroit Lions in the 2015 NFL draft.
