Rutgers football: fiver under-the-radar players who made an impact in the spring game

Rutgers football saw five players take a step forward in Friday’s spring game.

Rutgers football closed out spring practice with the annual spring game, and while no jobs or starting roles were won or lost on Friday night, it is clear that there is some emerging talent on the roster.

Lost amid the quarterback competition storylines featuring the Noah Vedral-Gavin Wimsatt- Evan Simon battle were some interesting flashes from other players in Friday night’s scrimmage.

Two players from the transfer portal made a bit of a breakout, one on defense (from last year) and one playmaker come came in this spring. In addition, a true freshman made quite the impression on defense, an unheralded running back made a big play and a rising underclassman on the defensive side of the ball showed some serious flashes.

If anything, the annual spring game showed that there is depth and talent coming up the two-deep at Rutgers. There also are some quality pieces that are coming in via the transfer portal.

Let’s take a look at five players, all a bit under-the-radar, who made an impression on Friday night in Rutgers football’s annual spring game.
