Rutgers had a bye week on Saturday but their win outlook still took a hit according to ESPN FPI.

Without playing a game this weekend, Rutgers football’s win projection from ESPN FPI fell from 5.8 projected wins a week ago now to 5.1 wins.

Rutgers is still favored in two of their remaining five games, at Illinois this Saturday (53.2 percent, down from 58.6 percent last week) and then the season finale at home against Maryland (64.4 percent up from 63.1 percent).

Illinois saw a bump up due to their win at a top 10 Penn State on Saturday, a game that took nine overtimes to finally declare a winner.

After Illinois, Rutgers plays home against Wisconsin (36.0 percent) then at Indiana (42.4 percent) and Penn State (15.1 percent) before finishing the season at SHI Stadium against Maryland. The probability of Rutgers getting a win at Indiana and Penn State rose over the weekend. Both programs lost, with Indiana taking a bad loss at Ohio State on Saturday night.

The lowest projected game in terms of win favorability remains Nov. 20 at No. 20 Penn State (15.1 percent).
