Rutgers field hockey continues climb in national poll

Rutgers field hockey remains a top team in the latest NFHCA poll.

Rutgers field hockey is now No. 5 in the country, up one spot in the latest Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I National Coaches Poll. They have moved up one spot from the previous poll.

The Scarlet Knights are now 9-2 overall with a 3-1 record in the Big Ten. On Friday, they lost at home 2-1 to No. 1 Iowa. They rebounded on Sunday with a 1-0 win in double overtime over Indiana.

They play at No. 4 Penn State on Friday then host No. 7 Maryland on October 15.

In their Monday update, the NCAA said that Rutgers has the fifth-highest RPI in the country. Rutgers is one of six Big Ten teams in the poll’s top 10. Iowa remains atop the poll followed by second-ranked Michigan. There is the aforementioned Penn State, just one spot ahead of Rutgers, with Northwestern dropping down two spots to sixth and Maryland down one spot at eighth.
